Student Support Services

St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School’s Student Support Services is designed to meet the academic and social needs of our students with diagnosed learning differences while also providing enhanced learning experiences for students who are performing at an advanced level.

Academic Assistance:

The SFA Student Support Program encompasses four key areas in order to meet the needs of our SFA Students:

  • ECC and 1st grade reinforcement assistance
  • MSCS Title I Reading Remediation for K - 2nd grade
  • 1st - 5th grade Gifted Program & middle school Advanced Classes
  • SFA RISE Program for 1st -8th grade

Our certified teachers work with our staff to provide assistance with modifications, accommodations and training. In addition, our teachers participate in ongoing professional development regarding the needs of any potential student so that our rigorous curriculum can be taught to all of our children.

Through these processes, our goals in the Student Support Program are to:

  • Meet individual student needs
  • Bridge the gap between academic performance/student potential
  • Provide students with necessary strategies and social emotional support for success in our classroom setting and beyond
  • Help develop skills to become independent, life-long learners
  • Create a safe environment for learning
  • Empower students to advocate for themselves, harness their strengths, and accept and improve on their weaknesses

Academic Enrichment:

Additionally, the SFA Student Support Services Gifted Program is designed to offer enhanced learning experiences for our 1st through 8th grade students that are performing at an advanced level, challenging their learning, and expanding lessons and activities. These may include:

  •   Cultural discoveries and investigations
  •   Logic, puzzles, and authentic math activities
  •   Book clubs
  •   Science lab/inventions/engineering projects
  • Advanced classes offered specifically for Middle School students
