A little about me
Hello, everyone! My name is Mrs. Patti Kintz, and I am so excited to be teaching our 5th grade ELA and Social Studies classes this year! Language arts and history are passions of mine, and I am blessed to be able to share that with my students this year through a career that I love. This is my fifth year teaching, and my third year at SFA. Prior to this year, I taught 5th grade RISE here at SFA. I am thrilled to have found a school community that I love and feel like I can call "home."
My husband and I have 7 children (ages 26, 24, 22, 18, 14, and twin 11 year olds), who I talk about constantly. Maddie (14) is a freshman at SBA and plays soccer. Noah and Lily (11) are 6th graders at SFA and play tennis and softball. We also have a dog, Carmen, and a cat, Elizabeth.
Our house is crazy, but I manage to find a little time for some hobbies aside from spending time with my family. I love to travel and have been to El Salvador twice and Honduras once, in addition to traveling inside the U.S. I also enjoy learning about languages and cultures. One of my goals is to be able to better communicate with our Spanish-speaking families here at school. However, my favorite hobby is training Brazilian jiu-jitsu. I have been training for 8 years and earned my brown belt last October. If I'm not at school or at one of my children's activities, you will most likely find me practicing or refining technique on the mats. I also love to read almost anything, especially if it is suspenseful or history-related.
I am so excited for this year and know it is going to be great!
