Private School in the West Memphis Area

Choosing the right school for your child is an extremely important decision, even from the earliest grades. If you’re looking for a West Memphis area private or Catholic school for children, ages 2 years-8th grade, drive across the bridge to our Cordova, TN campus and see how St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School can help your child.

St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School welcomes students of all faiths from all over the greater Memphis area, with a student body of more than 550 students from 33 zip codes. Many of our 8th grade graduates have gone on to become valedictorians and salutatorians at some of Memphis’ most prestigious high schools, including St. Benedict at Auburndale, St. Agnes Academy and Christian Brothers. Some have also been recognized as National Merit Finalists and National Merit Commended Scholars.

Our commitment to academic excellence was recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in 2010 when St. Francis was named a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence.

We provide a traditional Catholic education augmented with the latest technology: Students have 1:1 access to technology that helps them learn, from iPad Minis in grades 3K-3 to MacBook Air laptops in grades 4-8. Forty-one of our classrooms are SmartBoard classrooms. We will be installing Apple TV’s in classrooms to enhance our students’ learning experience.

Looking ahead, St. Francis will be the first Catholic elementary school in Memphis to launch Project Lead the Way across all grade levels in the 2018-2019 school year.  We are excited to offer PLTW programs to our students, giving them the tools to solve problems and skills for success.

But even with our high-tech approach, we make sure to support the learning style of every student and encourage critical thinking. Traditional and gifted students benefit from our challenging curriculum, while our PLUS Program supports those with learning differences.

SFA places great emphasis on both the arts and sciences. Our school boasts two art rooms, two music rooms and a band room, in addition to a STEM lab and a newly renovated library where students can work collaboratively. Add 66 athletic teams and 30 academic clubs, and St. Francis students have plenty of opportunities to explore their interests and develop their God-given talents.
