Job description 
Full time, 12 months, exempt
St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School, and St. Benedict at Auburndale School seek a full-time Director of Campus Security. The Director is charged with maintaining a safe and secure environment for students, employees, parishioners, and all visitors. The successful candidate will perform supervisory and administrative tasks in developing, implementing, and managing programs to effectively address security, emergency management, and all safety needs for the schools and church. The Director must be aware of, supportive of, and act in a manner that reflects the values and mission of the Catholic Church, Diocese and Schools
 
Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions to SFA Church, SFA School and SBA School:
  • Directing safety and security programs and services to ensure the safety and security of all students, staff, parishioners, and guests.
  • Supervises and schedules a security team and works with security vendors.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal laws.
  • Serves as a visible presence during school and church events.
  • Works with insurance risk management personnel to ensure compliance with all Catholic Mutual Insurance and diocesan requirements.
  • Seeks, secures, and administers grants for program and project funding.
  • Conducts inspections, reports potential hazards to appropriate departments, and maintains and updates the Emergency Operations Plan.
  • Serves as campus expert on existing and new safety/security requirements, oversees and enforces campus-wide adherence to requirements.
  • Operates, monitors, and maintains fire, security, communication, video surveillance, and emergency management systems. 
  • Secures facilities, equipment, students, and employees by recommending safety and security investments and upgrades.
  • Takes a lead role in identifying and developing the appropriate software related to reporting and analyzing school safety findings and incidents.
  • Serves as the liaison between St. Francis Church, St. Francis School, and St. Benedict with local first responders and emergency management organizations.
  • Manages all security-related training for all campuses and ensures all stakeholders are trained to mitigate, prevent, and recover from disasters.
  • Responding to alarm calls from various systems throughout the campus (fire, water, door, etc.).
  • Collaborates with outside agencies to ensure proper response in emergency situations.
  • Assists front desk personnel to maintain a security log for all activities and incidents and provides functional statistics from the log.
  • Reports, advises, and assists administrators in matters involving criminal activities on the campus.
  • Administers emergency preparedness, emergency operations center coordination, disaster recovery, and FEMA engagements including responsibilities for campus implementation, and all necessary reporting to accompany these activities.
  • Represents the campus in matters of security through local, state, and national organizations.
  • Responds to and assists in emergency situations as appropriate.
  • Works with administrators in each building to develop and implement a safety/crisis plan consisting of exercises and drills for events in accordance with the Tennessee State Laws.
  • Facilitates monthly sessions for Protecting God’s Children – VIRTUS training for all volunteers.
  • Coordinate with site facility/maintenance director to ensure parish/school safety policies/procedures are implemented.
  • Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
 
Qualifications/Experience:
  • At least five years of professional work experience in Law Enforcement, Security, Criminal Justice, Military, Emergency Management, or another related field.
  • Must be VIRTUS – Protecting God’s Children registered and certified before the start of the 23-24 school year and willing to be trained as a Facilitator.
  • At least three years of experience managing a team.
  • Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or related field.
  • Certification as a Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or other related credentials is required before the start of the 2023-24 school year.
  • Advanced understanding and ability to use computers and technology including Microsoft and Mac products.
  • Experience establishing and managing a cross-functional campus security working group (HR, Facilities, Faculty, Administration, etc).
  • Well-developed interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with all constituents in a school environment, including students, co-workers, parishioners, parents, graduates, volunteers, and the public.
  • Diplomacy, flexibility, adaptability, honesty, self-reliance, teamwork, dependability, willingness to listen and learn, work ethic, determination, persistence, critical thinking skills, loyalty, and congeniality are essential. A successful candidate will commit to the safety of students, staff, and visitors while fostering a creative, warm, caring, and effective learning environment.
  • Must demonstrate extensive knowledge regarding the administration of school safety/security operations and local, state, and federal laws and stay abreast with current trends/laws.
  • Participate in periodic continued security training. This training may need to take place outside of normal working hours.

  • While performing the above duties, you may experience the following physical demands:
  • Sit, turn, bend, reach, walk, talk, hear, and interact with faculty, staff, parishioners, and others in person and on the telephone.
  • Work in a highly stressful environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts.
  • Possess effective computer and oral communication skills. 
  • Be physically fit and able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Work intermittently in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine building maintenance tasks related to carpentry, electrical, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, and grounds maintenance. The Facilities Maintenance Technician performs general cleaning and other tasks as assigned. This is a full-time, 12-month, non-exempt hourly position, reporting to the Director of Facilities Maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Paint, remodel, refurbish areas as needed

  • Repair, maintain/monitor all equipment, furniture, and amenities

  • Change of all filters for HVAC as required

  • Prepare classrooms for incoming classes; remove or rearrange

    furniture for events or classes, as needed

  • Change light bulbs, interior, and exterior, as needed

  • Maintain exterior property, including snow removal

  • Assist with school event set-ups and breakdowns

  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned

  • Must be able to work flexible hours

Education and Work Experience Requirements:

  • High school education or equivalent

  • Experience working in facilities maintenance

  • Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, and carpentry

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision

  • Must demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills;

    customer service oriented

  • Must be organized, detail oriented, self-motivated, and able to

    multitask

Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:

  • Ability to push/lift 75 pounds

  • Ability to climb ladders and walk on roofs

  • Bending at waist, sitting, kneeling, climbing, walking, crouching as

    job may require

  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures

  • Working around lubricants, solvents, batteries, cleaning fluids,

    paints
