Amy Cluck, 6th/7th English Teacher at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School

I have been teaching for over 20 years, and 15 years of those have been at SFA in various grades and subjects, primarily math, pre-algebra, and English/Language Arts. I am a mother to 2 wonderful girls, who both attend(ed) St. Francis. My school is like my second family and I LOVE teaching here!

I grew up in Wichita, Kansas and I am a product of Catholic schools for 16 (!) years (including elementary, high school, AND college.) I have a Bachelor's Degree (B.A.) from Saint Louis University (in Communications and a minor in Marketing---I like to talk!) and a Master's of Arts (M.A.T.) in Teaching from the University of Memphis.

My students have been VERY involved in extracurricular activities through various clubs and competitions:

  • Math Counts
  • Memphis Catholic Math Challenge: 2015 - 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in the greater Memphis Diocese
  • National and local writing competitions
  • Wordsmith 2016: 3rd place in 8th grade division (Memphis metro area)
  • Wordsmith 2017: 2nd place in 7th grade division (Memphis metro area)
  • Wordsmith 2018: 2nd place in 7th grade division (Memphis metro area)
  • The Anne Frank Center USA National Writing Contest - 2016:  3rd place nationally in the junior division
  • The Elie Wiesel National Writing Competition - 2017:  3rd place nationally in the junior division; 1 essay in top 15 in the country
  • The Elie Wiesel National Writing Competition - 2018:  2nd place nationally in the junior division; 2 essays in the top 12 in the country
  • The Catholic Textbook History Writing Contest - 2016 (over 20 participants)
  • Memphis in May Creative Writing Contest - 2016:  1st place in the junior division in the Memphis metro area

  • Memphis in May Creative Writing Contest - 2018: 1st place and 2nd place in the junior writing division in the Memphis metro area

I was a Pathways to Teaching Scholar for the University of Memphis and I received the Elizabeth Ann Seaton Award for Innovations in the Classroom from the Catholic Diocese of Memphis (2014) and I am also an Apple Teacher for Mac (2017).

I believe that education is a life-long activity and I strive each and every day to bring that love of learning to all of my students.
