Alicia Brown ~ Principal

Hello! My name is Alicia Brown and I am blessed to be the Principal at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School. I graduated Summa cum Laude from Memphis State University (now the University of Memphis) in 1992 with my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. A few years later in my career, I completed my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Nova Southeastern University. I have been married for 35 years to my wonderful husband, Bill. We have three "fur babies;" our cats, Barney, Cookie and Tico.  I enjoy college football, NASCAR, Atlanta Braves Baseball, reading, puzzles, boardgames, and all types of music. My family loves to go to Escape Rooms and participate in live trivia events. Our favorite place to visit are the Smoky Mountains in East Tennessee and the beautiful waterfalls of North Carolina.

I have been a part of the wonderful SBA/SFA faculty and staff since 1994. I LOVE TEACHING and never dreamed of doing anything else. However, unbeknownst to me, it seems that God had different plans in mind. So, after having taught math, social studies, language arts, and religion for 14 years in middle school, I was tapped by the principal to step into a new role as the Director of Student Affairs to be an advocate for the students and a liaison for our teachers and our families. This new role challenged me to see the school from outside of the classroom and helped me develop new skills and relationships with our SFA families. After a few years, I became the Assistant Principal for St. Francis.  As Assistant Principal, I loved getting to work more in developing new teachers and strengthening our curriculum while still encouraging our students to give their best and maintaining strong relationships with our families  Then, in May of 2018, I was honored to be chosen as the Principal for the most amazing school in town, the school that I have loved and have called home for so many years. This August 2023,  I begin my 30th year at SBA / SFA and the 6th year as its Principal.  Now, my former students are bringing me their own children. I affectionately call them, "My Grand-students."  At SFA, we are family, ... a community brought together by God.

As the Principal, my role is to lead our SFA Timberwolves by guiding our students and helping them to not only achieve academic excellence, but to see how they can be socially responsible by caring for one another through their words, actions and in service to others and by spiritually following the path our Lord has carved for them.  I believe that all people have gifts and talents given to them by God and we, as educators, have been entrusted to help each and every one of our students find these gifts and talents and teach them to use them to change the world. Inspired by the words of our Patron, Saint Francis of Assisi, it is my hope that through my example that I may "Preach the Gospel at all times, and when necessary... use words."

Welcome to our St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School Family. Go Timberwolves!
