Seventh and Eighth Grade History

My name is Ms. Izora Baltys and I will be taking over for Mrs. Rosengarten after fall break. This crazy 2020-2021 school year marks my fourth year in the classroom, and I am so excited and grateful to be joining the St. Francis family!

I attended Marian Central Catholic High School and went on to study at Northwestern University, both in Illinois. After graduating in 2015, I traveled to South Africa for a one-year teaching assistantship through the Fulbright U.S. Student Program. Upon my return, I moved to Mississippi in 2017 for the Mississippi Teacher Corps, an alternate route program at Ole Miss. I was placed in Clarksdale, MS at WA Higgins Middle School Academy, where I taught seventh and eighth grade for the past three years. I very briefly served as Student Services Coordinator at Clarksdale’s CTE Center before moving to Germantown with my fiancé, Zach, this September.

Finding St. Francis was nothing short of a miracle for me, and as someone who was raised in Catholic schools from kindergarten through high school, it’s actually surreal to have that “home away from home” feeling already, so thank you all for being so kind and welcoming, and an especially big THANK YOU to Mrs. Rosengarten for allowing me to be her shadow this first week :) She is leaving some big shoes behind, but I know it'll be a great year with these already impressive, kind, curious, articulate students!
