My name is Laurie Fullen. My family has been a part of the SFA family for 10 years...WOW...what a wonderful 10 years it has been! All four of my children have attended SFA. Noah, my oldest, transferred in 2009 when he was in 2nd grade and he is now a junior at SBA. Jacob, my number two, also transferred that year into first grade and he is a freshman at SBA this year. Sara Kate, my only girl, has been at SFA since day one starting in the 2K program and is now in 6th grade. Last but certainly not least, my little Asher, started when he was 3 years old and will be in first grade this year.
During my time at SFA I have been involved in the classroom as a room parent and have volunteered in various projects and activities. I held several PTO positions, my favorite being the Faculty/Staff Luncheons. I also helped to implement the Kindness Club last year, the Timberwolf Tidal Waves. I have been substituting since 2016 but most recently I have been the primary sub for the PLUS program and it has been an extremely rewarding experience. I was able to attend and complete SMILA training this summer where I learned a lot about the multi-sensory approach to reading and how it helps children with learning difficulties to bridge the gap so that they can be successful readers. I feel perfectly blessed and very grateful to now be an 'official' part of SFA as a member of the Enhance team. I am excited to get started, I know it's going to be another great year at SFA!
On a more personal note...I have been married to my husband, Jason, for 19 years. He owns Fullen Transportation Services, a freight brokerage, here in Memphis. As a family we love vacations to the beach and spending quality time together. We also enjoy caring for our furry and feathered friends, I am a huge animal lover. I grew up in the country and will forever be a country girl at heart. Currently, I have 2 ducks, 2 bunnies, 3 dogs and a horse. My daughter, Sara Kate, rides competitively in the West Tennessee Hunter/Jumper Association shows throughout the year and we love having our girl time at the barn while all the boys do boy things. All of my kids were born with a natural love of animals because we've always had pets of various sorts. My husband tolerates it all very well...bless him. Most dear to my heart is my sweet golden girl, Millie, she is 10 years young and has always had that sixth sense that only the special ones have. She helped me raise my babies and looks out for them still. She's definitely my one in a million!
