Summer Required Math
Students entering grades 5–8 (2010-2011) will continure to use the internet based math program ALEKS to fulfill their summer Math requirements.
A total of 51 hours will be required by the first day of school.
STUDENTS ENTERING THE 5TH GRADE
ALEKS letters for rising 5th graders, with login and password information, will be sent home in May.
Traditional 5th grade students will be required to log in 15 productive hours on ALEKS this summer. Quick Tables do not count toward hour requirements.
PLUS 5th grade students will be required to complete 7 hours - Quick Tables (multiplication and division) and 8 hours - PIE for a total of 15 hours.
All rising 5th grade students will receive a test grade based on percentage of hours completed.
STUDENTS ENTERING 6TH – 8TH GRADE
Students entering 6th – 8th grade will be required to log in 15 productive hours and/or complete 100% of their pie. Once your pie is completed your summer hour requirement is fulfilled. Quick Tables do not count toward hour requirements.
Students that have completed their pie will received a test grade of 100%.
Students that have not completed their pie will receive a test grade based on percentage of pie completed and total year productive hours - 51 total hours = 36 hours required through the school year PLUS 15 hours required in the summer before returning in the fall.
New 6th - 8th grade students to SFA will be required to log in 15 productive hours during the summer. A test grade will be given based on percentage of hours completed.
STUDENTS ENTERING GRADES 1-4
Students entering 1st – 4th grade will receive a Math Workbook to complete over the summer. Workbooks will be distributed to students in May. The workbooks are age appropriate and used as a refresher of concepts learned throughout the school year. These completed workbooks are due the first day of school in August.

SUMMER ACADEMIC PROGRAMS
