The Monsignor Peter P. Buchignani Endowment Fund

An endowed gift is a gift that keeps on giving – it provides the gift of a St. Francis of Assisi School education for generations to come. An endowed gift is one in which the original principal is never touched, only a small percentage of the earnings are used for annual operating expenses or for specific needs, such as scholarships.

St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church Parish, through the generosity and commitment of the Timothy J. Coyle Knights of Columbus Council 9317, established the Msgr. Peter P. Buchignani Endowment Fund in the summer of 2007. This will provide an additional source of funds for the financial needs of the school with a primary emphasis on assisting families in St. Francis of Assisi Parish who are unable to afford the tuition fees of the school.

The initial contribution to our endowment fund came from Council 9317 in the amount of $20,000, in loving memory of Timothy J. Coyle. This is only the first of many donations being made from others wishing to create an enduring source of additional support for our school.

“I wish to express my deepest gratitude to the Knights of Columbus, Council 9317 for helping establish this endowment fund by making the initial and a sizeable donation. The endowment fund will be managed by a committee consisting of the Pastor, parish, and school personnel. I personally may never see the faces of the children who will benefit from this fund, but what a legacy we leave behind. We are telling future generations of children that we care for them, that we focus not just on our needs but theirs. The gifts of faith we have received from past generations are the gifts of faith we wish to share with them.
