ALEKS
ALEKS is a computer, web-based, learning system that will assess each student to determine exactly what each individual child knows and doesn’t know this far in their math education.
ALEKS then designs a course path that instructs the student on the topics they are most ready to learn. This individually designed program would target your child’s specific needs regarding readiness. As a student works through the course, ALEKS periodically reassesses the student to ensure that topics learned are also retained.
ALEKS also provides the advantages of one-on-one instruction, 24/7, from virtually any web-based computer for a fraction of the cost of a human tutor. This pilot project is essentially offering a special tutoring system that targets your child’s very specific needs in math up to this point in their educational career.
For the 2008-2009 School Year, students in grades 5-8 are required to complete Nine hours of ALEKS each quarter. |
