Achievements and Accomplishments by Our Students
SFA Cheerleaders took 1st Place at both the PAA Championship and in the Junior High Division of the Southeastern Classic – 3 years in a row! 2007-08, 2008-09, and 2009-10
- Our middle School Academic Team went undefeated in Diocesan League play and took first place at the Academic Day tournament held at St. Benedict in 2010. In the Knowledge Master Open computer competition students on over 650 teams throughout the United States and in many foreign countries, the team placed 1st in the MidSouth Region, 2nd in the State of Tennessee and in the top 30% in the world out of all teams competing.
- Our 2009-10 third and fourth grade news Bowl team tied for 15th place out of 120 teams nationwide!
- Each year, we have at least 50% of our seventh graders qualify for the Duke University Talent Program based on Academic Merit.
- Our Middle School Forensics team won 1st place overall at the St. Mary's tournament, competing against teams from memphis, Jackson, and Nashville.
- Our 8th grade science students compete in the Shelby County Engineering Competition. In 2010, SFA teams received Honorable Mention, 2nd place, and 1st place.
- 2010 Wordsmith competition sponsored by the University of Memphis- Gold Medal Winner, First place -400 word dash, Honorable Mention - 40 word dash, 2nd place - 120 word dash. The SFA 8th grade team placed 2nd overall.
- Our SFA Yearbook staff received honorable mention in the 2010 edition of Taylor Publishing's Yearbook. Each year less than 15% of yearbook programs in the nation earn this distinction.
- Our Model UN team was recognized for Outstanding Resolution and Outstanding Delegate at the 2010 city-wide conference.
- SFA students are frequent winners in area writing contest:
- Anyone Can Write Workshops - 1st place winner (2007), Honorable Mention (2008), 1st & 2nd place (2009)
- Insurance Professional of Memphis Writing Contest - 1st, 2nd, and 3rd locally (2006, 2007, 2008, 2009) 1st place winner at state (2007, 2008)
- 2010 Financial Literacy Essay contest sponsored by First Tennessee Bank - 8th/9th division - winner
- 2010 Wordsmith competition sponsored by the University of Memphis - 8th grade Gold Medal winner, 1st place in 400 word dash, 2nd place in 120 word dash, Honorable Mention in 40 word dash, 8th grade team was 2nd place overall
